The Grant Park Music Festival (the Festival) seeks an Associate Director of Individual Giving to join our development team and play an integral role in the continued growth in philanthropic support from individual donors. Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, this role is responsible for planning and executing the Festival’s multi-channel annual fund campaign, strengthening relationships with existing and new donors, and supporting efforts to build the Festival’s endowment. The Associate Director of Individual Giving is detail oriented and utilizes Tessitura to create data-driven strategies and targeted fundraising communications that capture donor interest and inspire response.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Spearhead comprehensive annual fund campaign comprised of direct mail, telefund, and digital fundraising strategies focused on acquisition and retention of lower and mid-level donors.
• With guidance from the Chief Development Officer, serve as the primary relationship manager for a portfolio of individuals, identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding existing donors and prospects.
• Initiate personal connections with donors to move major gift prospects in an appropriate and timely fashion toward solicitation, with a focus on increasing donor engagement and giving.
• Utilize Tessitura to develop and execute annual fund donor/prospect segmentation plan and generate lists for targeted and personalized appeals.
• Write content for annual fund campaign solicitations, working with marketing/patron services team to align fundraising messaging and project timelines, and ensure overall brand adherence for all communications.
• Collaborate with the Chief Development Officer, President/CEO, and other partners to build a strong endowment for the Festival by supporting donor cultivation and solicitation efforts, preparing proposals and meeting materials, and tracking fundraising activities and results.
• Serve as the development team expert in Tessitura functionality and features, producing lists, extractions and reports to measure progress against goals and inform data-driven planning.

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS

• 5-7 years development experience with a focus on individual giving.
• Superior attention to detail, written and oral communication skills.
• Excellent judgment in dealing with donors and the public.
• Ability to initiate and build relationships with current and prospective donors.
• Comfortable and effective working in a fast paced, donor-focused environment, successfully collaborating with team members and managing a variety of projects with limited supervision.
• Experience with Tessitura preferred, and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (especially Word and Excel) and computer tasks.

COMPENSATION/BENEFITS/SCHEDULE

• $60,000 - $65,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
• Competitive benefits package includes 10 days paid vacation, ten paid holidays, four personal days, paid sick leave, comprehensive health, dental, vision and life insurance, and 403(b) retirement plan with 3.75% employer match after one year of employment.
• Nights and weekends are required during the Festival's summer season and for occasional organizational events during the year.

For more than 85 years, the Grant Park Music Festival has been Chicago's summer musical sensation, demonstrating that classical music performed by a world-class orchestra and chorus can have a transformative impact on the city.
